My name is Tina, and Ruth is my mother. I recently asked her if she would share her Christmas cookie recipes on a blog I was contemplating, and so here we are. My mother, who is in her early 80s, has been baking cookies at holiday time and giving them away as gifts since I can remember.
I have always been worried that her cookie recipes would someday get lost or forgotten, and so finally I am re-typing, updating, and digitizing them. My father Paul is an avid photographer, and most of the photographs I post are his. My brother, also named Paul, and I have always loved consuming our mother’s Christmas cookies and discussing which type is our favorite and why.
My hope is that this blog will be a good way to share recipes, some family history, and offer an appreciation for the years my mother has toiled away in the kitchen from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve. I live in the Los Angeles area with my husband and two sons, while my parents and my brother’s family are in New Jersey. This blog also seems like a nice way to connect everyone across the many miles.
Thank you so much for putting up these recipes I found your blog when looking for a Springerle cookie recipe. I remember both of your parents from DanceMakers in Summit when I used to teach there. Such a small world. So glad your family is doing well.
Thanks so much! Good luck making the Springerle and I will ask my mother if she remembers you — I am sure she does. Take care!
